Retired & Emeritus Faculty Parking

Retired and emeritus faculty parking is a benefit bestowed by the Office of Faculty Affairs in partnership with VCU Parking and Transportation. This benefit allows for qualified retired and emeritus faculty members to receive a VCU parking permit at no cost.

Qualifications

To qualify for a retired/emeritus faculty parking permit, the faculty member must present a valid Retired or Emeritus Faculty VCUCard* to a Parking and Transportation customer service office during normal business hours. Additionally, the faculty member must have been a VCU parking subscriber for their last five years of employment with VCU.

Upon meeting these qualifications, a retired/emeritus faculty parking permit will then be mailed to the faculty member's address on record. In the interim, the faculty member can use a valid VCUCard to gain access into the gated parking facilities.

*The VCUCard office can only issue the Retired or Emeritus Faculty card once a faculty member's department/office has processed the status of retired/emeritus in Banner. VCUCard requires documentation of the retired/emeritus status to issue the card and suggests contacting their office before coming in to confirm the status is updated in Banner. Visit https://vcucard.vcu.edu/ for more information and to contact VCUCard.

Parking Locations

Retired and emeritus faculty permits are accepted at the following designated parking deck locations:

Please note that a VCUCard can also serve as a second credential for access to these facilities.

Permit Renewals

Once qualified for the retired and emeritus faculty parking permit, permit holders will receive an automatic permit renewal every year if the permit is used within a 12-month period (July 1- June 30).

Each year, VCU Parking and Transportation will review the usage of all retired and emeritus faculty permits. If a permit has not been used within the year, VCU Parking and Transportation will deactivate it.
